Over 40 years ago in 1967, Pope Paul VI issued his encyclical 'On the Development of Peoples' ('Populorum Progressio'), one of the most important social documents issued since Vatican II. Its teaching about the growing poverty and injustice of the developing world is still loud and clear today as it was then.
A number of organisations and groups, including the Christian Life Community, have signed up to the livesimply project to re-visit this encyclical and to celebrate, reflect and take action to work for justice.
CAFOD have produced an action pack of materials for communities, parishes and other groups to use.
We have produced our own live simply reflections booklet so that CLC members can more easily have access to the material and participate in the project, if they wish to do so. The material may be used for individual prayer or for sharing at CLC group meetings.
This briefing paper gives some of the background to the Live Simply project.
